Obituary in the Randolph Enterprise: "John B. Moon of Kansas City arrived here Monday afternoon for a visit with his brother, Elihu Moon, and other relatives here. He walked from the depot to the home of the editor of this paper [Isaac Clark Moon]. He sat down and talked a few minutes with the editor's wife and fell over dead. The editor and his father [Elihu Moon], neither of which knew of his arrival, were called from the office and a doctor summoned. We thought that perhaps the old gentleman had only fainted and an effort was made to restore him to consciousness but to no avail as the spirit had fled forever from his body. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church at two o団lock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. C. Biggs, and the body laid to rest in the Randolph cemetery. John B. Moon was born June 6, 1829, at Westboro, Ohio, and died as above stated at Randolph, Kansas, April 4, 1904, aged 74 years, 9 months and 28 days. Mr. Moon served as a Private in Company C. of the 79th Ohio Infantry in the war of 1861 to 1865, and was honorably discharged. He was married in 1854 to Miss Hannah L. Garrison, who died about four years ago. For several years the family had lived in Kansas City, but since the death of his wife Mr. Moon spent a part of his life in the soldiers home near Leavenworth. His only daughter died about two years ago. Two, or perhaps three, of his sons are living but relatives here do not know where they are. If any one should read these lines who knows where they are will they please communicate with the editor of this paper."
