- Patrick Mooney, father of Mary Mooney, features in a well-researched treatment of the Clinkenbeard family[2]. It should not be copied into the Biography or considered a reliable source in its own right, but may help find and evaluate such sources. Perhaps this quote can assist in further research (emphasis added):
- "In 1781, William married in Boonesborough, Lincoln County, Virginia (now Madison County, Kentucky), Mary Mooney, the daughter of Patrick Mooney (born 1681 in northern Ireland, died in Kentucky on 14 December 1799 at age 118) [sic], and his wife Jane Beard (born 1706 in Ireland, died 1806 in Kentucky). William and Mary continued to live at Strode's Station until 1784."
