Genealogy Experiences

Dr. Moore has been working on family genealogy since 1979, back when you had to go to the National Archives in Washington, D.C. in person to research census and military pension records. He is adept at using a microfiche reader and pencil and paper. Since about 2003, he has been using wiki's both professionally and as a hobby.

Please e-mail me if you are interested in collaborations. I only include information that comes from authoritative and accurate sources and information that comes from close family members that can be verified in public records. I do not include information about living people in WikiTree.

Genealogical standards:
  1. Reasonably exhaustive research.
  2. Complete and accurate source citations.
  3. Thorough analysis and correlation.
  4. Resolution of conflicting evidence.
  5. Soundly written conclusion based on the strongest evidence.

Digital Afterlife

DNA Tested
G Moore's DNA has been tested for genealogical purposes. It may be possible to confirm family relationships by comparing test results with G or other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. Y-chromosome DNA test-takers in his direct paternal line on WikiTree:
  • G Moore: Family Tree DNA Y-DNA Test 67 markers, haplogroup R-M269, FTDNA kit #643448
Mitochondrial DNA test-takers in the direct maternal line:
  • G Moore: Family Tree DNA mtDNA Test HVR1 and HVR2, haplogroup H, FTDNA kit #643448
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share DNA with G:

Re: Cameron-6551 I've created a new genetic disease category instead and named it as suggested and updated the tags to match.

Hi G.,

As far as naming conventions for Asian people go, I think that you might be using the Latin alphabet for Korean-born people instead of hanja or hangul as the LNABs. For Asian profiles I create, I use the native script used as the LNAB. See https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:Name_Fields#General_Naming_Conventions for additional information. "Note that English translations can go in the less formal fields, such as Nicknames and Other Last Names."

Regarding your questions on Alexander Moore (Moore-14569) : He was born in Prince George Co, MD and died in Bardstown, Nelson Co, KY. I was recently invited to Wikitree by a Moore researcher and I have filled in most of the lineages for this particular line. Alexander was born to a single mother and his descendants do not carry the same y chromosome as other Moore descendants from the same line.

I noticed you edited a biography of David Wyatt (Wyatt-1408). David was my great great grandfather and I'm wondering if you have a source for the edit of birth place. I'm desperately trying to find a source for his birth and his father.
