Biography

Mrs. Helen Mary Moore Todd, 88, died Friday at home.

The native of Seattle, Wash., lived in Savannah for the past 34 years. She received a bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in library science from the University of Washington.

She was employed by the Savannah-Chatham County Board of Education as librarian for 13 years before retiring. After retirement she authored two books on local native American history, “Tomochichi” and “Mary Musgrove, Georgia Indian Princess.” She was a member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church and was an officer of the American Association of University Women, a member of the Georgia Retired Teachers Association, Chatham Retired Teachers Association and the American Association of Retired Persons.

Surviving are her husband, Seldon P. Todd, Sr., of Savannah; two sons, Seldon P. Todd, Jr. of Washington, D.C., and William J. Todd of Rochester, N.Y.; a daughter, Mary T. Singh of El Toro, Calif.; a brother, Edwin Moore, of Sequim, Wash.; a sister, Katherine Fowler of Calif., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
