Biography

Violet May Moore Denelsbeck was born on January 23, 1923 in New London, MN to parents Emma Oleson and Orley Moore. She died on September 16, 2020 at the age of 97 in Canby, MN, from the COVID-19 virus. She was married to Lawrence Denelsbeck on January 23, 1940; they had seven children. She was a determined, resourceful woman who made it her mission in life to raise her children independently and teach them by example to be true to themselves, to understand that we all shape our own lives and that we each determine what our destiny will be. She worked remarkably hard throughout her long life and survived many hardships. She never gave up on love and her faith in God was unfailing.

Throughout her career she worked as a Bookkeeper and Controller in the Minneapolis/St Paul area. After retiring at the age of 87 she embraced her love of reading and continued her commitment to life-long learning. She was a writer, a published poet and a member of Toastmasters. She enjoyed her book club, her Bible study group and many volunteer activities.

She was preceded in death by son Donald Mark Denelsbeck, granddaughter Danielle Denelsbeck (Donald and Jackie), daughter Phyllis Sniegowski (Michael), daughter-in-law, Jeanette (Yackley/David Denelsbeck), and great-grandson Esteban Sisco (Niki Sniegowski Sisco and Ken Sisco).

She is survived by daughters Anne (Dwight Swanson), Jeanne (Darold Olson), Carey (Kevin Moss), sons David (Jeanette Yackley) and Gary (Brenda Nothem), son-in-law Michael Sniegowski, her cousin Frances Groven LaCina (Joseph), 18 grandchildren, and over 80 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The last year of her life she was lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff at Sylvan Court Nursing Home and the dedicated doctors and nurses at the Canby Hospital.

A private memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Canby on October 2 at 10:00 am followed by burial at the Canby City Cemetery where all who wish to attend will be welcome.

Blessed be her memory.
