Death

The Rev. John William Moore, one of the oldest Methodist ministers in the State, died at his home at Ashfield yesterday, in his 86th year. He was actively engaged in circuit work for 44 years, and was a supernumerary for 21 years.

A native of Liverpool, New South Wales, Mr. Moore was a candidate for the Methodist ministry in the Camden circuit in 1868. After a year at Newington Theological College, he began his ministry in the Wellington circuit in 1870, and afterwards served in some of the most important circuits in the State. After Wellington, he went to Bathurst, Lower Clarence, Moruya, Ulladulla, Berry, East Maitland, Yass, Wallsend, Young, York Street (Sydney), Parkes, Windsor, Ryde, Kiama, Rockdale, Balmain, Botany, and Merewether. He became a supernumerary in 1914, and was placed on the permanent list of supernumeraries in 1915. Since that time he fulfilled pulpit engagements In many circuits, but chiefly at Hurlstone Park

He was buried at Rookwood General Cemetery.[3]
