Marian was born on July 28, 1896 in Bradford, Yorkshire England. She was the tenth, and final child, born to Peter Moore and Elizabeth (Stowell) Moore. Marian left England with her family on April 24, 1907. They sailed from Liverpool aboard the ship "Westernland". The family arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, on May 5th. They settled in north Philadelphia.
