Born North Carolina (uncertain).
A few clues support the fact that Richard was the father of William. First, Richard had a brother named “Farmer” which was not a common first name, and William named his first son “Farmer”. An article in Ancestry.com addressed the origins of the name “Farmer”: “Gregory Farmer b. 1650 England & unknown wife had Gregory Farmer b. 1680 Baltimore, MD md. Sarah Hughes b. 1684 Baltimore MD and they had Martha Farmer b. 1717 Baltimore MD md.
Jonathan Jones [see below for more about him] b. 1719 Baltimore MD and they had Elizabeth Jones b. 1756 Baltimore MD md. John Moore b. Nov 19 1754 Brunswick VA and they had Richard G. Moore b. 1782 (my direct ancestor) and his brother Farmer Moore. Then Richard G. Moore named his son Farmer after his brother (and Farmer named one of his sons Richard after his brother), so that's how the name "Farmer" got into the Moore family.” - Bruce McCain
Lineage of John Jackson Moore [1]
I found another source which I believe cooperates the theory of Bruce McCain. - Laura Young Hanley. [2]
