Note: Sarah E. Moore and William H. Clark were united in marriage February 27, 1873 by H.C. Beall. Sarah loved her home in a log cabin which William built for them. There, they reared seven of their eight children, Mattie living only a few weeks. The family resided in their log cabin for forty-three years.
Sarah was a rag carpet and rug weaver. She had a large room that took up all the space in one of the two rooms upstairs of the log cabin. She knitted and crocheted beautiful needle work. During Wordl War One, she knitted socks for the soldiers. Her youngest child, Lloyd, served in the war. In the summer months, early in the morning, you could find her working in her garden barefoot. A very industrious woman. Sarah also drove the hack (a horse drawn carriage or sled for transporting school children). Sarah was a member of the Harvey's Chapel M.E. Church since her childhood.
