Biography

Elizabeth was born the youngest of three daughters of Edward L. and Annie Moore. She was 3 years old when her mother died. One can only imagine the grief and desperation of her father with four small children to take care for.

Edward L. married Frances Margaret Hartley on 1871. A new step-mother, a move to a new home 'Oran Park' and 3 step brothers born there over the next ten years, until they move to the newly built 'Badgelly' house sometime in 1882, when at 17 years old, her schooling finished. She was free to make her way.

Four years after her father's death, Elizabeth (26) married Francis Cherry Willis (25) on 3rd June 1891 at St. Thomas Church, Narellan, New South Wales.

Elizabeth inherited various properties from her father. The Willis family ran sheep, cattle and horses.

Elizabeth and Francis had four children namely: Frieda, Lionel, Nigel and Roland.

Elizabeth died on 14 July 1946, six months after her only daughter Frieda death in January.

As with anyone whose life spanned two centuries, Elizabeth witnessed many changes as an excellent horse woman, saw horses that is used as transportation replaced by motorized vehicles, candles and oil lamps by electricity, telephones for communications and fashions in dress for women, and the tragedy and loss of life which two world wars imposed on so many families. Thus the life of a pioneers daughter came to a close-four years short of the first 50 years of the twentieth century.
