Biography

(Bold references: [1] indicate primary/reliable sources. All other source links are for research only.)

Name

Birth

  • Birth Place: Centre Rawdon, East Hants, Nova Scotia, Canada [3][4][8][12][13][15][16][17] (or Scotland as claimed by daughter Eliza [12])
  • Alternate Birth Place: South Rawdon, Hants Co., Nova Scotia, Canada [14]
  • Alternate Birth Place: Kent, Canada [5]

Parents

Marriage

  • Marriage Place: New Brunswick, Canada [15][16][17]
  • Alternate Marriage Place: Nova Scotia, Canada [14]

  • Alternate Marriage Date: 17 Oct 1867 [18]>
  • Alternate Marriage Place: Boston, MA. [18] NOTE: May not be the correct Joseph MOORE (son of a John and Eliza) and Elizabeth McKENZIE, because, the marriage place is not in Canada, but Boston, for he did not immigrate to Boston until 1906. Secondly: Elizabeth's parents are not Donald and Leonora, but a James and Mary. Finally, Joseph's age at this time is not 36, but listed as 24 and Elizabeth's age is 40, but listed as 26.
But, his 1st two daughters below were born in Boston between 1868 and 1870. So apparently, they could have immigrated to Boston twice?
See Research Notes below for further explanation.

Research Notes

Alternate Joseph MOORE and Elizabeth McKENZIE:

  • After I, (4/6/2023 — David FRANTZ), had entered in all the sources I could find for his wife's profile, there clearly appeared to be two Elizabeth McKENZIE's each with a husband also called Joseph MOORE, (which were both carpenters). Both couples were born in Canada within just a few years of each other, and then eventually both immigrating to Boston MA. After determining which sources and facts went with each, two profiles were then created from the one. The other profile is Elizabeth H. (McKenzie) Moore (abt.1841—?)
The main differences for the otherElizabeth are:
  1. Her mother was a Mary instead of a Leonora or a Christina.
  2. Her father was a Joseph instead of a Donald.
  3. Their marriage was in Boston, MA, instead of Canada.
  4. Therefore they both immigrated before their marriage intead of after.
  5. Joseph's age was 24 (b: 1842/43), not 36
  6. Elizabeth's age was 26 (b: 1841), not 40.
  7. Her two children, were born in Boston instead of Canada. This is collaborated by their 1870 US Census record [3] which links her two daughters to her.
NOTE: Future research may show that these two couples are really the same couple, for all the similarities are striking, but at this point the differences are irreconcilable.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joseph by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Joseph:
