  • Scotty was born on a farm in west Tennessee, not far from Memphis.
  • Married & divorced 3 times, 5 children
  • He is best known as a pioneering rock and roll guitarist, helping launch the career of Elvis Presley on Sun Records, Memphis in the 1950s. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones has said: Everybody else wanted to be Elvis. I wanted to be Scotty.
  • US Navy veteran, 1948-52, served in the Korean War
  • Elvis Presley launched to fame with Scotty Moore as guitarist on Sun Records, Memphis. Scotty was Elvis's first manager. His professional partnership with Elvis, which ended in 1968, netted Moore just over $30,000.
  • Ranked #29 on Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Guitarists of all Time
  • Musicians Hall of Fame, inducted 1990
  • Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, inducted 2000
