Biography

Jane was born June 25, 1753, the daughter of Peter Moore and Mary Howe of Rowley, Massachusetts[1] [2] [3] [4].

Peter and Mary emigrated to New Brunswick with their family 1765 (among the New England Planters) and settled at Maugerville in Sunbury County[3]

Circa 1772, Jane married Thomas Langen (Langan, Langin), who was also a New England Planter from Massachusetts[3] [4]. They settled in Burton Parish, Sunbury County, and their children included:

  1. Jane or Jessie Langan who was born circa 1774, who married 2 May 1797 in Burton Parish, NB, Jeremiah Barker (b. 1775 at Maugerville in Sunbury County, died before the 1851 Census in Carleton County, s/o Nathaniel Barker and Lydia Burpee), and who died 29 Dec 1860 Simonds Parish, Carleton County[4][5]
  2. Rebecca Langan born circa 1775, who married 27 Mar 1796 in Burton Parish, David Gage ( b. - , died before the 1851 Census), and who died August 14, 1863 [4] [6][7] [8]
  3. Mary Langan born 1779, who married 21 Dec 1797/8 in Burton Parish, Edward Bartlett (born 1774, died 9 Sep 1851 in York County[9]), and who died 21 Dec 1859 at Fredericton[4][10]
  4. Huldah Langan born 1780, who died unmarried 23 May 1842[4][11]
  5. Margery Langan born 1782, m. 16 Jul 1802 in Burton Parish, Asa Upton (b. 7 May 1783 in Sunbury County, died 19 Jun 1875 at Florenceville, Carleton County), and who died 18 May 1818 at Sheffield, NB[4] [12]
  6. Edward Langan born 1785, who married 10 Apr 1817 in Sunbury County, Rebecca Jane Upton born 1789[4] [13]
  7. Elizabeth Langan born circa 1790, who married 25 May 1810 in Burton Parish, Asa Perley[4] [14]
  8. Thomas Lewis Langan born circa 1791, who married (1st) 23 Jan 1823 Sarah Bailey[15] [16], m. (2nd) 26 Jan 1828 in Saint John, Charlotte Whitney (b. in Saint John, d. in NY, daughter of Samuel Whitney)[17], and who died 10 Dec 1833 in New York City[4] [18]
  9. Margaret Langan born circa 1792, who married 29 Nov 1814 in Sunbury County, Robert Mersereau[4][19]
  10. Hugh Langan born 1794, who married 7 Apr 1812 Mary Treadwell: settled in Chipman Parish, Queens County, and who died after the 1871 Census[4][20]
  11. Frances Louisa Langan born 1798, who married 6 Nov 1818 William H. Sherman[4] [21].

Thomas Langan passed away in 1811, and Jane was named executor[4] [22].
