Biography

America Parish was born in 1812 in Madison County, Kentucky to Levi and Ruth Parish.[1]

Marriages

She married first, Col. Daniel Moore (1809-1851) on Aug 10 1829.

To this marriage were born 8 children. Col. Moore went to seek his fortune in California’s gold rush and family lore says he was ambushed and killed by Indians on his way home.

On the 1840 Fed Census he was at home in the Western Division, Iowa, then a part of Wisconsin Territory. Eight years later he purchased a parcel of land in what is now Rock County, Wisconsin.

The last record for Col. Moore is the 1950 Calaveras County, California Census.

Three years later, America married young Orrin Delos Goodrich who was 20 yrs younger. Together, they had 3 sons, Orrin Thomas, 1852; John Actison, 1855; and Frank Parish, 1857.

With his wife and three sons, plus several of her children from her first marriage, still living in Wisconsin, Orrin set out for Iowa where he married Elizabeth Jane Walls. At the time of this marriage, Frank P, his youngest, was only four

With Elizabeth he had 9 more children. The youngest was born in 1883 and Elizabeth died in 1896.

America died in 1883 in Mifflin, Wisconsin. She is buried in the Mifflin Cemetery. There is no photo of her headstone on findagrave but her maiden name a Parish is included [2]

Parish-2350 and Parish-116 do not represent the same person because: I believe her name/s should appear according to the sequence of her marriages. Maiden name Parish, married Daniel Moore (1st marriage)-Orrin Goodriche (2nd marriage).
