Biography

3 Nov 1926: Mary Bird Moore is born to Virgil E. Moore and Clara C. Monroe Moore. Dr. T. A. Miller was the attending physician and delivered Mary at the family home, 823 W. 11th Ave, Corsicana, Texas. Due to Dr. Miller’s penmanship, Mary’s Birth Certificate appears to read 13 Nov 1926 as her birth date. However, the document was filed on 8 Nov 1926 by the Navarro County Registrar and family records confirm that her birth date was the 3rd of November 1926. [1] [2] [3]

2 Apr 1930: Mary is now 3 years old and lives at 823 W. 11th Avenue in the home owned by her parents, Virgil (30) and Clara (31) Moore. Mary’s half-sister Clara Jerome House, brother Virgil Jr., maternal grandparents, and other relatives also reside in the residence.[4]

27 Nov 1933: Mary’s father, Virgil Erskine Moore, Sr. dies from pneumonia. The family uses Virgil’s Life Insurance to pay off the mortgage on the family home, 823 West 11th Avenue, Corsicana.[5][6]

12 Apr 1940: Mary is 13 and living with her widowed mother, Clara, sister Jerome House (18) and brother Virgile Moore (10) at 823 W. 11th Ave, Corsicana, Texas. [7]

17 May 1947: Mary and Jessie Beamon were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony officiated by Claude Guild, minster of the 5th Avenue Church of Christ, Corsicana, Texas. Mary was given in marriage by her Uncle, Paul Kenner; her sister, Jerome Roxburgh, was her Matron of Honor and cousins Betty Joan Landon and Mary Ann Kenner served as Junior Bridesmaids. Brothers of the couple, Virgil Moore and Blair Beamon, served as groomsmen. The couple honeymooned in Corpus Christi, Texas.[6] [8]

1949-1991: Mary and Jessie have four sons whom they raise in Corsicana, Texas. During this period, Mary worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, as the Secretary for the Church of Christ Bible Chair at Navarro College, as a Nursing Home Assistant Administrator, and as the Administrator for the Twilight Nursing Home in Corsicana, Texas.[3][6][9]

1 Dec 1989: Jessie, surrounded by his sons and Mary, passes while a patient at Baylor Medical Hospital in Dallas, Texas.[10][11]

1991-2015: After retiring from the Twilight Nursing Home Administrator position in 1991, Mary served as a Pink Lady Volunteer at Navarro Regional Hospital and in other church/community activities. She was a faithful and well-respected member of the church of Christ in Corsicana.[3][6] [9]

8 Apr 2016: Mary, surrounded by family, passes unexpectedly while a resident of the Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in Corsicana. She was laid to rest alongside Jessie, the "Love of my life" and husband of 42 years, on Tuesday, 12 April in Resthaven Memorial Park, Corsicana, Texas. [3][9][12]

Mary Beamon

Mary Bird Moore Beamon, 89, of Corsicana passed away on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village. She was born on Nov. 3, 1926 in Corsicana to Virgil Erskine Moore and Clara Cecil Monroe Moore. After graduation from high school she attended Abilene Christian University from 1946 to 1947. She married Jessie Lee Beamon on May 17, 1947 in Corsicana and they made their home here. She worked for the telephone company as an operator, she was secretary at the Church of Christ Bible Chair at Navarro College and worked as administrator at the Twilight Nursing Home which she was most proud of. Mary was also a member of the Westhill Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings; Jerome Roxburgh, Virgil E. Moore Jr., Edgar Lee Ward Jr., George Richard "Buddy" Ward, James Douglas Ward and Robert Earl "Bobby" Ward, and her husband of 42 years Jessie Lee Beamon. Mary is survived by her children; Jesse Lee Beamon Jr. and wife Mary of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Paul Douglas Beamon and wife Sharon of Frederick, Maryland, John Randall Beamon and wife Christy of Temple and David Brian Beamon and wife Christie of Corsicana. Grandchildren; Doug Beamon, Jay Beamon, Julie Poyner, Amy Beamon, Jael Hastings, Shelby Beamon, Blake Beamon, Laura Lovett, Faith Beamon, Jessie Leigh Schisler, Tyler Jordan Schisler and 15 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Visitation with her family was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2016 at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 in the Chapel at Griffin - Roughton Funeral Home with Ferman Carpenter and Sam Dilbeck officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park with Doug Beamon, Shelby Beamon, Blake Beamon, V.E. Moore III, Dan Gibson and David Mahoney serving as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Westhill Church of Christ Benevolence Program or a charity of your choice. In her arrangements written for her family was "Lay me next to Jessie - Love of my Life".
