Tradition/legend -- This Moore line supposedly descended from a McCollum Moore, son of Duke of Argyle.[1] However, Y DNA shows this cannot be so. A direct descendant from this line tested at FTDNA's Big Y-700 level, and proves to be (Haplogroup BY132277)[2], in-line with multiple Moore/Muir lines under Haplogroup BY3368, all believed descended from Sir Gilchrist Mure, of Rowallan (ca. 1200-1280), in Southwest Scotland.
In the year 1739 there were nine Moore brothers who came ashore in Philadelphia from a ship newly arrived from Ulster in Northern, Ireland. They were part of the Moore Clan that came to Ireland from Scotland. Tradition says they stepped into a tavern and ordered a jug of whiskey. They toasted a colorful past, they toasted a promising future and then they started down the Appalachian Trail to the Carolinas and opportunity. One of the Moore brothers next appeared in Borden’s Grant permanently and reared a family there. The other brothers stayed for different lengths of time then moved south as they pleased.

...Andrew Moore is reported to have immigrated from Northern Ireland to the Borden Grant in about 1737. ...
... Andrew Moore's son, Alexander Moore, testified in Augusta County court depositions in 1806, that he traveled from Pennsylvania to the Borden Grant as a youth in 1739, and that when he arrived Solomon Moffett was already living on the land. There are reports of the Andrew Moore family in Chester County, Pennsylvania in about 1738-'40. ...
...The first land claimed by the Andrew Moore family appears to be a 700-acre parcel, for which Andrew contracted directly with John McDowell in late 1737. For tragic reasons, this land was never titled to Andrew Moore. The first land claimed and titled by the Andrew Moore family were parcels properly recorded in February, 1738 and titled in 1742/43 to Andrew's sons, John and Quantin Moore. All the Andrew Moore family claims were adjacent to or nearby one another just south of Steele's Tavern, and all had direct access to the Great Wagon Road. The owner of Steele's Tavern is believed to be the brother of Margaret Steele, John Moore's wife, the couple having married in Ireland. Andrew Baxter, the elder brother of Isabella Baxter Moore, also purchased an adjacent parcel. There is some remaining evidence of the Moore family in the area. South of present-day Raphine, a road, "Moore's Trail" intersects Steele Fort Road near Highway 11. Moore's Creek drains the same area, including a new artificial lake and dam at its previous headwaters.
...Andrew Moore, the elder, moved in with his son William. Andrew Moore filed his Chancery Court case in August, and then died in December, 1748, 2 years before the first court case about his land was decided.
