Biography

John Moore was the son of Eaphroditus Moore, whose Will was written June 11, 1757, and probated in October, 1757, in Bertie county, North Carolina. John inherited all the lands of his father, except for two plantations, lying on Fort Branch, one of which went to John's grandson, Elisha Wilson and the other to John's grandson, Thomas Moore. [1]

On April 19, 1758, in Bertie County, North Carolina, John Moore gives a warrant to Benjamin Wynns to survey 640 acres in Bertie Co on the West Side of Fort Branch, joining the late Epaphroditus Moor's Plantation Land and a Survey lately made for the said Epaphroditus Moor - being a Tract of Land formerly Surveyed for the said Epaphroditus Moore entered 24 November 1757. /s/ Fras Corbin. Back of document reads: "Surveyed 29 March 1759, Granted 14 February 1761" [by Lord Granville] [2]

Researchers Notes

It is known that John was living in October, 1757, when his father's Will was probated, and that he was still living in 1758 and 1759, when he had additional land surveyed and platted adjoining the land that he inherited from his father.
