John is said to have abandoned Elizabeth and their eight children about 1842, and removed with Mary and their four children to Florida. John, Mary, and their four children are listed in the 1850 US Census in Clay Hill District, Duval County, Florida.[6]
John Moore and Mary Peterson married on 13 Apr 1854, in Duval County, Florida.[citation needed]
Clay County was created in 1858, from Duval County. Clay Hill is now an unincorporated community in Clay County.
He passed away about 1855 in Clay County, Florida, and is buried in Long Branch Cemetery, Clay County, Florida.[citation needed]
