A Life Dedicated to Education, Arts, and Excellence
Jeffrey Scott Johnson, born Jeffrey Scott Moore on July 16, 1961, is a multi-talented individual who has left an indelible mark on the fields of education, writing, music, and acting. His remarkable journey began in Covington, Georgia, USA, where he was born to Doris Wylene Moore and Harry Vernon Moore. Despite facing early challenges, including his mother's battle with cancer, Jeff's life would be shaped by the resilience, support, and determination of his family and teachers.
Early Life and Adoption: Jeff was the youngest of four children born to Doris. His older siblings, Shirlene and Patricia, came from different fathers, while the two youngest children, Paula Gene Moore and Jeffrey Scott, were born to Harry and Doris. Tragically, Doris passed away due to complications from cancer when Jeff was just two years old. Harry, despite his own challenges after a forklift accident, enlisted the help of his sister Mildred Moore Johnson and her husband Travis Johnson, who adopted Jeff. This village effort in raising the children provided them with a loving and stable environment.
Education and Inspiration: Jeff's educational journey began with a strong drive to succeed academically. He excelled in advanced classes during high school and discovered a deep passion for math and science, particularly in biology and physics. It was his teachers who ignited his thirst for knowledge and greatness.
College and Pursuit of Teaching: Jeff became the first among his relatives to graduate from college, a testament to his determination. He realized that overcoming childhood hardships and surrounding himself with supportive peers inspired him to aim higher. His college years were marked by becoming a varsity cheerleader, earning the title of collegiate All-American, and working as a cheerleader instructor. Additionally, he was a swim team member and a water safety instructor. During this time, Jeff found his calling in teaching, leading him to earn two master's degrees in Biophysics and Science Education.
A Distinguished Career: After completing his education, Jeff returned to Covington, Georgia, embarking on a remarkable thirty-six-year career as an educator. He dedicated himself to science education, particularly in physics, and received numerous accolades, including being named The Seimen's National AP Teacher of the Year, Alabama AP Teacher of the Year, Alabama ACCESS Teacher of the Year, and ALFA Teacher of the Year. He was also a three-time finalist for Alabama Teacher of the Year. Jeff's influence extended to the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he served as a clinical instructor for four years.
Pursuit of the Arts: In the late 1990s, Jeff reignited his interest in the arts, attending acting school at The New Actors Workshop in New York City. Acting became a passionate hobby, and he graced the stage in national and local productions during summer breaks.
Retirement and Beyond: Jeff concluded his teaching career in June of 2019 but continues to contribute to the field as a consultant. His legacy as an educator, writer, musician, and actor remains a source of inspiration and motivation for future generations, a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence in all his endeavors.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles!
It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
