The following notes show that Joseph and Sarah Hall, lived adjacent to Andrew Moorman, and provide further information: Genealogy Research notes from Ancestry.com Joseph Hall "OUR HALL FAMILY
Joseph Hall and his wife Sarah are the oldest known ancestors of our family line. The first record of him is by a land purchase in Anson County, North Carolina in Deed Book 1, page 109, June 27, 1750. Joseph Hall for seven pounds proclomation money paid to John Hitchcock for fifty acres of land on the east side of the PeeDee River, corner of Andrew Moorman. (This land was located in the present town of Rockingham in Richmond County, N.C.). For at least two terms he was appointed to serve as a Constable. Joseph did not leave a will so the children were not named. His wife Sarah was named Administrator and sold his estate on August 24, 1786, proven in the October Court of 1786. A tax list of 1763 names sons William and John, however, we believe he had two other sons Joseph and Joel and possibly another named James. We do not know for sure if he had daughters but believe he had at least three. Sarah was still alive and was recorded in the 1790 census. Likely she was related to the Moorman family. We have reason to believe Joseph had a brother named John that lived in Anson County, N.C. on Rockey River where it forks off of the PeeDee River. It is also likely that he was related to the family of Halls of Bladen County, N.C., (Lewis, Sr., Lewis, Jr., Enoch, and Instance).
