Biography

Rebekah Moorman was born September 14, 1797 in Guilford County, North Carolina.[1] She was the daughter of John Moorman and Rebekah Diggs. They are reported in a Quaker Meeting in 1779, where Certificates were produced to this meeting from Cain Creek monthly meeting dated the 1st of the 6th month 1799 for Friends living near Pee Dee River with list including Rebecca Moorman wife of John & Daughters , Ann, Achsah, Judith & Rebecca.[2]

She married Alfred Tharp (1798-1848) on April 2, 1819 in Wayne County, Indiana.[3] Some of the known Children were.

  5. Thomas Diggs Tharp
  6. Mary P Tharp

Alfred was a preacher.[1]

Her husband Alfred passed away on December 10, 1848, in Grant, Indiana, at the age of 50. They had been married 29 years. She was living in Center, Grant County Indiana, in 1850 at age 50, a Widow, with her children James M-20, Farming, Sarah-18; Ursley-16, Thomas, 14, and Mary-13.[4] She was living in Franklin, Grant County in 1870, 2i5h her daughter Mary and husband Samuel Burrier's family.[5]

She died 6 —1888 at age 90, in Grant County, Indiana, and was buried in the Estates of Serenity Cemetery, in Marion, Grant County, Indiana.[1]
