Jacob Moors is thought to have been born around 1779[1] and is most likely the son of John Moors and Lydia Smith.[2]. His parents were among the first European settlers in Twillingate, Newfoundland[3].

His will went into probate in 1831. James Moors, who is assumed to be his brother, was appointed as one of the executors.[4]

  1. His date of birth has only been found on other family trees and research projects like this one by Stephanie Wilson. A better source is need to confirm his actual date of birth.
  2. Once again the only source for this is from other family trees, however given the generation he was from and the limited population of Twillingate at the time, it is unlikely his parents would have been anyone else.
  3. NL GenWeb, Twillingate Moors Family. Compiled by Stefanie Wilson referencing family journals, accessed 2017.
  4. Will of Jacob Moors, from Newfoundland Will Books, volume 1, pages 111 to 113, probate year 1831. Accessed via Newfoundland Grand Banks website on October 18, 2015.
