Charles Morand (baptized: "Moran") was born 8 May 1771 in Grosse Pointe, near Fort Détroit, under British rule in what was called the "Province of Quebec". Today, this area is in Michigan, USA. [1] His mother died giving him birth [2]:
"Margueritte Simard, daughter of deceased Noël Simard and deceased Catherine Fortin of the parish of Saint Pierre in l’abbaye Saint Paul, bishopric and government of Quebec; widow of deceased Ambroise Tremblay; wife, in a second marriage, of Charles Morand dit Grimard, lived in Groçe Pointe [Grosse Pointe], died in childbirth, about 45 years, 9 May 1771, buried in cemetery" [3]
Research Notes
No records on FamilySearch. Ancestry has some Drouin records of baptisms in the right time period but they are difficult to read, some names have been chopped off, and the indexing doesn't include parents' names.
Death record not found - possible he died also at birth - most likely before the birth of his half-brother: Charles Lesperance (1775-1860).
