She and Philip had ten children. Esther died July 26, 1846.

Life Sketch. [2] Esther was the first-born daughter of Rev. Mordecai Moses Mordecai and Zipporah "de Lyon" Mordecai. On November 1, 1780, she married Dr. Philip Moses Russell, a Jewish Surgeon's Mate, who received a special commendation from General George Washington for his services at Valley Forge during the winter of 1777-1778. Esther's father performed the marriage ceremony.
They became the parents of 10 children: Zipporah [Isaac D. Mordecai], Samuel [Sarah deLyon], Judith [Isaiah Nathans], Isaac [Perla Sheftall], Moses Milton, Rebecca [David Nathans], Henry M., Rachel [David Tobias], Sarah M. [David Nathans] and Jacob [died young].
