John Morehead was the son of John Morehead, the Elder, of Fauquier County, when his father gave him a Deed of Gift for 124 acres from his own land dated 22 March 1764. This likely marks the time John Morehead, Jr. was to be married with the prospect of starting a family of his own.[1]
Will
Will of John Morehead, Snr., of Fauquier. Dated 14 June 1819, probated 22 January 1821.[2]
Sons John, George, Armistead, William, Charles and James; daughters Sarah Sinkler, Betsey Triplett, Susannah Triplett, Nancy Dearing, Lucy Humstand [sic]. Excrs., son George and Matthew Neale
Note: Fauquier County was formed from Prince William County 1 May 1759. John's father is proven by documentation to have resided in the part of Prince William County that became Fauquier County. The DAR currently concludes 1745 for the birth year of John, Jr. however, a 1764 Deed of Gift from father to son may indicate John, Jr. may have been born earlier.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
Morehead-743 and Morehead-196 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles represent the same John Morehead and need to be merged into the lower numbered profile. I have placed a note on the Morehead-743 profile regarding John's birth year & location, which was originally set as Fauquier, which did not yet exist. Also, the DAR concluding the 1745 birth year...I'd suspect since he was already on the land his father gifted in 1764, he was born a bit earlier than 1745. I think it best to improvise and split the difference unless a primary source directs otherwise.
