Research Notes
Isabella Moreland Fleming is recorded as mother on the birth registration of Isobel Moreland. No father's name is recorded. Isobel was placed in the care of James and Jean (Pringle) Kerr who raised "Ella" as their daughter, although no formal adoption took place. DNA confirms the connection to the Fleming/Moreland Family in Scotland, and the McGinn/Ronald family of Australia.

- Maternal DNA confirmed through Ancestry. Tests taken by son, Grandson [Rasmus-80], and two granddaughters. Son has a maternal 1/2 first cousin match with descendants of Moreland-1305's bio-half-sister and half-brother - confidence high. Grandson [Rasmus-80] and granddaughters' matches are within range of 1/2 1C1R.
- Paternal DNA confirmed through Ancestry test, with additional information from matches found on My Heritage. Testers were Ella's son and daughter, as well as 2 granddaughters and 1 grandson. Using WATO and creating a tree with a number of matches with the common name McGinn, common ancestors were found to be James McGinn and Mary McLean McGinn. One son of James and Mary was Charles whose first wife, Agnes Hume, died in Scotland before he married Mary Ronald and emigrated to Australia. Matches to both the Ronald and McGinn family suggested Ella's father was one of Charles' sons with Mary. Circumstances of time and place reveal that John was the only possibility.
