Giuseppe Alessandro Moretti was a sculptor. He studied in Piacenza and Milano. He has made sculpture portraits of king Gustav V, general Balck, professor Siegbahn, archbishop Eidem and author Selma Lagerlöf.[1][2]
According to Wikipedia Moretti first came to Sweden from Norway in 1911. He settled for good in Stockholm at the outbreak of WW1.
The population registry for Stockholm, Rotemansarkivet, has Giuseppe Alessandro Moretti arriving from Italy in 1915, together with his wife, Elise Martha Cecilia Hirschhorn.[3] They were married since 16 August 1895. In Stockholm they lived in Matteus parish, Karlbergsroten.[4]
Moretti moved from Matteus parish to Katarina parish 19 November 1923. His wife, Martha is mentioned, but they do not seem to have moved together.[5] This may be when they separated and Martha left Sweden. She was transferred to the list of absentees in 1925, but there is usually a delay for this operation.
Giuseppe Alessandro Moretti lived alone in Matteus parish, Stockholm at the time of the 1950 census.[6]
Widower December 28, 1946. Died 24 January 1953.[7]
