Ada was the third child of ten. She was named for her grandmother, Adelaide Jepson. She was born in 1887. At 12 all the children in the family went to work, and Ada took a job at a distant relative's, working for Amelia Bushnell Morgan, who was a widow with a farm. She would marry Amelia's youngest son, William, at 19. He was 15 years older and passed away when she was in her 50s. She told us he wanted to get married when she was just 16, but she had wanted to wait. Her mother's influence. They were wonderful partners, Will caring for the farm, and Ada for the house and the children. Grandma was a very kind person. She had family suppers on many Saturdays, and got as many members of the family together as she could. She included distant cousins, and much of my knowledge of Pownal family comes from her. Had she lived in our time, she would have enjoyed genealogy with me.
