Biography

Joshua Morgan was the son of Daniel Morgan and his 3rd wife, Mary Wells, of Colchester, CT. He enlisted during the Revolution in July 1777 and is listed as a Private in the 5th Connecticut Regiment. He was either discharged or given leave in 1779 as the marriage of Joshua Morgan and Welthy Palmer is recorded in the Colchester Congregational Church records on June 3, 1779. Some of his property as damaged during the Battle of Groton Heights, though he does not appear to have been involved in the battle. Joshua and Welthy moved to South Brookfield, NY, after the Revolutionary War with members of their extended family, including other members of the Palmer, Morgan, and Randall families.
