Biography

Jane was born about 1789 in Newcestown, Murragh Parish, County Cork, Ireland. She was the daughter of James Morgan and Mary Good.

After her husband's death in 1857, Jane lived with her son Robert and his family.

The 1861 census of Bathurst lists Jane as the head of the household; occupation farmer. The other members of the family were listed as Robert (son), Mary Ann (daughter-in-law), Robert Chesley (grandson), Laura Jane (grand-daughter), William Perkins (grandson) and Susan (daughter).

In 1871, Jane, widow, 82, born Ireland, was residing with her son Robert and his family in Bathurst.

In 1881, Jane Eddie [sic], widow, 83 [sic], born Ireland, was residing with her son Robert and his family in Bathurst.

Jane died 9 Oct 1884 and is buried in the King's Burying Ground, Bathurst, New Brunswick. The 15 Oct 1884 edition of The World reported: "Bathurst (Glouc. Co.) Notes - Mrs. Robert Eddy died last week at the advanced age of 95."
