Meet the Morgans by Caroline Lancaster I'm sure James Morgan (1823 - 1922) would have been proud and delighted at the gathering of three generations of his descendants at Battle on a glorious summer's day in August 2005. James and his wife Sophia (Mugridge) had a family of eight children (see below for details) and this reunion of cousins brought together descendants of three of those children. The get-together was prompted by a visit from Ken Cunningham, his wife Margaret, and daughter Lea-Anne from Canada. Ken is a great grandson (and Lea-Anne a great great granddaughter) of James' son Alfred Morgan, whose son Peter emigrated to Canada before WW2. Brothers Terry and Lloyd and their first cousins John, and Roger (who was unable to attend), are all grandsons of Alfred Morgan; Caroline Lancaster is a granddaughter of Caroline Morgan, and Ivor White a grandson of Elizabeth Morgan. As well as enjoying lunch and lots of chat and laughter, the Morgan cousins paid a visit to James Morgan's grave at Battle cemetery and to the Powdermills to see the cottage where he had lived for many years whilst employed as a carman transporting gunpowder. Many of the cousins had not met before and, in fact, until recently did not even know of each other's existence. Brought together via Ivor's website and Caroline's family research this was a wonderful reunion and everyone had a grand day out. It's hoped to have a get-together again next year when Brenda another cousin from Canada plans to visit England. So, if you are connected to our Morgan family, get in touch and join the party!
