Jones Morgan was born on October 23, 1882, in Newberry County, South Carolina. He was the son of Fed Morgan and Tilda Shelton. [1]

Obituary

"Jones Morgan, a member of the Buffalo Soldiers the famous black cavalry unit that fought in the Spanish-American War died Sunday in a Richmond hospital. He was 110." Mr. Morgan, whose energy often belied his age, was part of the unit that joined Teddy Roosevelt's Rough Riders in their charge up Cuba's San Juan Hill in 1898. "The old soldier rode off into the sunset one last time," a family friend said. bano's Restaurant on Route 46 in Parsippany from 1951 until 1972 when they retired. Survivors include a son, Sam; a daughter, Jenny Ombaldo; three brothers, Emanuel, Sal, and Fred; and six grandchildren. Arrangements are by Zarro Funeral Home, 145 Harrison St., Bloomfield." [3]
