Biography

On 24 Oct 1944, in Chinook, Montana, the following Marriage was solemnized by a Justice of the Peace: [1]

Leonard Morin died suddenly while finishing a cement surface at the University of Idaho, in Moscow, Latah, Idaho, at the age of 40 years, on 1 Nov 1962 of an MI. He was buried in St-Paul's Mission Cemetery in Hays Montana. Find A Grave has a copy of his death certificate, his obituary and his headstone which he shares with Florence L. Doney Morin Sayers. His obituary names only one child surviving him, a son, Randy. His obituary also names as surviving are his wife, his mother, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. [2] His Death Certifiacte can also be viewed on Ancestry.com. His parents are listed as Frederick Morin born in N.D. and Eva St. Arneaud born in Wellhollow N.D.[3]

  • 1930 Landusky, Phillips, Montana. Sheet 2A, House/Family 31, Lines 42 to 50 and Sheet 2B Lines 51 and 52. Frederick Morin, his wife Eva J., their 8 children, including Leonard age 7, and Frederick's widower father, Peter, age 85 born in French Canada naturalized in 1880. All give father as mixed race and mother as Chippewa. [4] The neighbors above them on the same page are John B. Doney, his wife, Flora C. and their 4 children including possibly Frederick's future wife, Florence M. age 5.

Research Notes

Some Ancestry trees have his father as the child of Abraham Morin and Marianne Ladouceur. However that Frederick Morin was married three times but never to an Eva St-Arnaud. The obituary for Leonard Morin has his mother still living in 1962 but makes no mention of his father who is presumably deceased. The 1930 census has his paternal grandfather as Peter Morin.

Pierre Morin could be Pierre Herménégilde Morin, son of Pierre Morin and Oliva Huard, born and baptized 26 Nov 1853 in St-Isidore-de-Lauzon. [6] His parents were married 14 Sep 1852 in St-Isidore-de-Lauzon. [7] Oliva Huard was the daughter of Augustin Huard and Luce Breton. A Pierre Morin and Olive Huard are the parents of widow Alma (Morin) Gerhen who marries Edward A. Paquin 17 Mar 1923 at the age of 59. [8] She dies 14 May 1957 at the age of 100 years, in Flathead County Hospital, Somers, Montana. [9]
