KINGSTON. A number of relatives and friends called on Thomas Morley last Friday, March 31, and informed them that it was his birthday, and they intended to eat a birthday dinner with him. Uncle Tom is 69 years old. - The Quincy Daily Herald, Thursday, April 6, 1899; page 4.
___ BEVERLY Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Morley of Kingston celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary last Friday. All their children were present, and a few intimate friends. - The Quincy Daily Herald, Thursday, March 16, 1916; page 11. ___ Funeral and burial services for the late Thomas Morley were held in Beverly township last week, attended by his widow and surviving children. Mr. Morley was one of the oldest residents of that township, his death occurring at his home in which he lived for the last forty-eight years, on last Monday.
Thomas Morley was born in England in 1830, and was 89 years old at his death. Seven years ago, he suffered a broken hip bone, and in time, recovered, but he could not walk after that without the use of a cane. The last two years of his life, he was confined to his bed.
The deceased came to America when he was twenty-one years old, landing at New York, where he learned the trade of a shoe maker, later coming to Palmyra [Missouri.] During the Civil War, he served as a home guard, and eventually, came to Illinois.
He was united in marriage to Miss Charlotte Herbert in 1856, who, with six children, now survive him, two children having died in childhood. The children are: Joseph E. Morley of Barry; William Morley of Macomb; Rufus Morley of Quincy; and George Morley, Mrs. Anna Parrock, and Mrs. Bessie Mixer, all of Beverly.
The deceased was a lifelong member of the Methodist church, and had many friends in his community. - The Quincy Daily Herald, Tuesday, September 16, 1919; page 14.
