Biography

William was born in Oskaloosa, Kansas 14 Jan 1869.[1] He was the son of Henry Morley and Araminta Sands.[2]

In 1880 he was living in Oskaloosa, Jefferson, Kansas.[3] The household included Henry Morley age 50 born in England, wife Carrie Morley age 31 born in Illinois, son Harry L Morley age 21 born in Kansas, son Richard S Morley age 15 born in Kansas, son Charles D Morley age 13 born in Kansas, son William S Morley age 11 born in Kansas, son George R Morley age 4 born in Kansas and son Frank R Morley age 2 born in Kansas. Henry and son Harry were both carpenters. Henry had remarried.

He applied for a passport in 1895, listing his birth date as 14 Jan 1869.[4]

William Morley married Alvara Bysche Crooks. She was the daughter of James Crooks and Alvara.

In 1900 he was living in Cedar Township Altoona city, Wilson, Kansas.[5] The household included James Crooks age 63 born in Ireland, wife Alvara A Crooks age 57 born in Alabama, son James E Crooks age 34 born in Illinois, son Toney T Crooks age 15 born in Kansas, boarder Eugene Browning age 21 born in Kansas, son-in-law William S Morley age 31 born in Kansas and daughter Alvara B Morley age 30 born in Kansas. James was a farmer. Son James and Eugene were working on the farm. William was a college teacher.

Daughter Helen Lucile Morley was born 16 Oct 1905 in Moscow, Latah, Idaho.[6]

In April 1910 he was living in Moscow, Latah, Idaho.[7] The household included William S Morley age 41 born in Kansas, wife Alvera B Morley age 39 born in Kansas, daughter Helen L Morley age 4 born in Idaho, son John D Morley age 1 born in Idaho and son Harold V Morley age 2 months born in Idaho. William was an instructor in Methodism. Alvera was the mother of 3 children, all living.

In 1920 he was living in Ashtabula Ward 4, Ashtabula, Ohio.[8] The household included William Morley age 50 born in Kansas, wife Alvira Morley age 49 born in Kansas, daughter Helen Morley age 14 born in Idaho, son John Morley age 11 born in Idaho, and son Harold Morley age 9 born in Idaho. William was a minister.

In 1930 he was living in Ashtabula, Ashtabula, Ohio.[9] The household included William S Morley age 61 born in Kansas, wife Alvara B Morley age 59 born in Kansas, daughter Helen L Morley age 24 born in Idaho, son John D Morley age 21 born in Idaho, and son Harold V Morley age 20 born in Idaho. William was a Presbyterian clergyman.

In 1940 he was living in Ward 4, Ashtabula City, Ashtabula Township, Ashtabula, Ohio.[10] The household included Rev William Morley age 71 and wife Alvara B Morley age 69, both born in Kansas. William was a public school teacher.

He passed away 20 Jul 1951 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.[2] He was a minister, and is buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, Ann Arbor, Michigan.[1]
