Charles Morris was born in 1839. He was the son of Mason Morris and Elizabeth White.[1] He passed away in 1862, in Hamilton, Illinois, and was buried in the Morris Cemetery.[2]
Benjamin Franklin Morris died as a result of a family feud over his father, Mason Morris property along with his brother Charles. His father had given the farm to his daughters Mrs. W.P. Hale & Mrs. Mart Craig. Mr. Hale had instituted a suit & obtained judgment for the house Charles was living in the day before the tragedy. The Morris brothers went to talk to their brother in laws & it ended up in a gun fight with the Morris brothers both dead. A Jas. Isaacs & Stephen Isaacs were charged with aiding & abetting the Morris brothers in making an assault. The whole event was published in The Mc Leansboro Time on Feb 15, 1879 & many other neighboring newspapers. [3]
The Death Record states the Benjamin Franklin Morris died of a gunshot wound to the heart on 7 Feb 1879 at 3PM at age 38. He was a farmer & a miller.
