Thomas Morris was born 15 Nov 1766 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina to Joseph Morris and his wife Hannah.[1][2]
He married Lucretia Henley 12 Nov 1794 in Pasquotank, North Carolina.[3]
It is often inferred that Lucretia died sometime after the birth of son Thomas on Christmas Eve 1802 for there is no known record of her after this birth. It is also commonly believed that the marriage of Ann Henley on 18 Apr 1807 to Thomas Morris[4] is a marriage to the Thomas Morris of this profile (who was the husband of her sister). However, that Thomas (b 4 Jan 1780) is identified as the son of Mordecai Thomas in Hinshaw's transcription.[5]
A Thomas Morris was made overseer of Pasquotank Monthly Meeting in 1814 but further identification of that Thomas is not made.[5]
A minute on the marriage of Thomas' daughter Mary to a Nathan Morris at Newbiggin Creek Meeting House on 22 Sep 1819 indicates that Thomas is deceased.[6]
Ancestry trees appear to commonly associate the 1819 death of a New Hampshire man of the same name with this Thomas Morris who never left North Carolina (NEHGR 83:35).
