"Levi, fifth son of William Morris, Sr., fought in the Battle of Point Pleasant. In settling the estate of their father, Leonard and John Morris, as Executors, deeded to Levi Morris 100 acres on the south side of the Kanawha, where Levi then lived (1793). This location was near the present town of Montgomery, and he is considered the first settler. Married first Margaret Stark; second, Margaret Jarrett."[1]
