1701: Rothro Morris purchased of Samuel Carpenter of Philadelphia 1220 acres along Locus Creek and some marshland. In 1729, Joseph and David Morris agreed to build a grist mill along this creek.

Oct. 20, 1702: Rothro Morris, yeoman of Elsenburgh, deeded 600 acres of a 900 acre tract in "Lefevor's Chase" a.k.a. "Hypolite's Point" to Richard Roodnutt of Lefevor's Chase[2].

Will

Rothro Morris, yeoman of Elsenburgh left a will written January 20, 1702/3 and proved September 21, 1704[3]. It names

  • wife Jael
  • sons Jonathan, Joseph, Joshua, Lewis, David
  • daughters Sarah and Jane, both under age

It also mentions neighbors John Thompson and Henry Walmsley. Executors were his wife and Nathaniel Chamlis, and witnesses were William Thompson, Andrew Thompson, and John Footit.

He passed away in 1704.
