John (no middle name) Morris was born in 1823 in Illinois. He was the son of Zachariah and Rachel (Jones) Morris of Georgia. Mr. Morris was married twice. First to Sarah Jane Wright, then to Mary Ann White. He had children with both these wives. Mr. Morris passed away in 1898 at East Fork Township, Clinton County, Illinois.
There has been quite a bit of confusion regarding his lack of a middle name. His son was named John Wesley Morris, but the elder John was never known to have any middle name. [1]
