Biography

Birth

Thomas Morrison was born in County Derry in northern Ireland in 1706, the son of James Morrison and his wife (surname unknown).[1]

Marriage

It is not known who Thomas married or when.[2]

Children

Thomas and his wife were the parents of: [3]

  1. "William Morrison said to have gone to Burke Co NC; cannot be traced."
  2. Margaret Morrison, m. James Ray
  3. John Morrison b. 11/11/1743 Lancaster Co Penna. d. 7/9/1835 Iredell Co NC. m. Dec 1771 to Sarah Potts b. 3/25/1755, d. 1/3/1846, dau of Henry Potts. John was an orphan, age 9, when he came to North Carolina with the Potts family.

Land

On 23 July 1735, Thomas officially applied for 300 acres of land in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.[4]

Death

Thomas died in 1748 and left a will in Pennsylvania, written on 29 December 1746, and probated on 26 October 1748.[5]

Epilogue

Around 1750, Thomas' brothers moved to Rowan County, North Carolina. Thomas' son, John, followed a few years later with the Henry Potts family.
