Richard Morrison Jr. was born at Lenox, Massachusetts on December 25, 1857, son of Richard Morrison and Mary Cowhig.
His mother Mary Leahy of Lenoxdale, formerly Mary Morrison, wrote her will on June 10, 1890 and it was proved on November 5, 1890. In it she left a bequest to son Richard Morrison 'thought to be now in California'. Later in the settlement, his sister Joanna (Morrison) Noonan, executrix indicated Richard was in Salt Lake City.
