Biography
Leslie is the child of James Morrison and Ellen Grooby.
He enlisted WWI - serial no 69615 - rank Private with the NZEF. Year of Birth given as 1893, Next of Kin as Aunt Mrs A Morrison.
Leslie embarked with the 35th Reinforcements, D company on March 2 1918 from Wellington, on the ship Tofua to Southampton, England.
His prewar occupation was as a Railway Porter and he was living in the Manawatu at Turakina . By the late 1920's Leslie was working as a Farmer in the Nelson area at Onakaka.
In the 1940's Leslie moved north to Auckland where he worked as a Barman at the Aurora Hotel, working there into the late 1950's.
Leslie retired soon after and moved to Ostend in Auckland.
