Biography
New record signed by son of descendant George W. Morrison compiled by close friend of Alfred Caswell Morrison, Maude B. Perry: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QHV-135R-K1FH?view=fullText&keywords=Alfred%20Caswell%20Morrison&lang=en&groupId=TH-7774-103369-25488-61 has brought to light much new information ! Will be making new profile for wife and mother of Alfred , Abigail Hasseltine, after some more research. [1]
- Nathaniel was born about 1790 in North Carolina, United States, (which later became Greene County, TN, so he never moved, as he died there.)
- Nathaniel married Abigail Hasseltine and they had at least one child Alfred Caswell Morrison. She is recorded as born in Scotland.
- Nathaniel may of married second Hanna Marie Austin in about 1820.
Death Certificate of son AC Morrison (Alfred Caswell) lists Nathaniel Morrison and Hannah Austin parents. (We now know that Hannah was his step mother). It had been the main source for parents of Alfred Caswell Morrison. Alfred's son George moved to Chico CA shortly after his father and was living near him and George was the reporting person on his father Alfred's death certificate. Thus we thought creating a reliable paper trail. SEE PICTURE[2]

DNA proven NOT descended from Nathaniel Morrison , and Thankful Heriman Morrison-3663 • North Carolina (His family descendants are a different male haplogroup)
Our Nathaniel is in a different Y line Group on Family Tree DNA, than the son 1752 of Nathaniel that married Thankful (possible maiden name Heriman).
DNA proven not to descend from the New Hampshire/ Londonderry Morrison; SEE Below.
Heritage in record Scottish which is proven out by Y DNA matching of Morrison-4484
1900 United States Federal Census:
DNA
New matching to children of Nathaniel Morrison have been discovered his "new" match children include William A. Morrison 1836-1916 and his descendants 9 matches, James W. Morrison 1833 one match so far. . Found in the 1850 Census Record above. These are descendants of Nathaiel Morrison and Thankful Heriman. But there is some DNA matching suspected in the Austell family of Hannah "Gilig" Austell.
Besides the DNA matching with son Alfred Caswell Y-line descendants (please see his profile) Twenty-Three Morrison surname Y-line matches to Leslie Morrison {Morrison-4484}, are matching at 12 markers on Family Tree Y-DNA. These testers with ancestors migrating from Scotland and migrated to North Carolina. But all have various opinions of their oldest ancestor so not very helpful.
Am also investigating Morris matches 6 testers are 2 steps away on 25 markers, and 40 Morris testers are vary from exact match to 1 step away on 12 markers. These testers most all have oldest ancestor Laban Morris b. 1781, NC d. Beaufort County, NC who married Caroline "Kitty" Williams son was William B. Morris b. 1809. Much autosomal matching being investigated for more information.
Dale|Ohda-2 has kindly helped with some autosomal DNA matching Scottish records, and United States additional records and connected a father for Nathaniel being Nathaniel, Sr Morrison-22135. However, Further Y- DNA matching was investigated as well as multiple autosomal matching kits to eliminate the possible autosomal matching of small segments being attributed to only Identical By State, Identical By Chance commonly known as "noise" or actually Identical By Descent .
After very careful comparison of the Y- DNA of Mack Morrison, in FTDNA Morrison- Gilmore Project under Group "A" being a supposed descendant of John Morrison-1091, and Leslie Morrison under Group "AX" also proposed by Ohda-2 to be a descendant they do not match at all even on the first 12 markers. Mack has 18 other testers that are a match with ancestors of the New Hampshire/ Londonderry Morrison which Dale proposed. Also upon comparison of autosomal DNA of the kits listed on Wiki-Tree to Gedmatch numbers for Loretta Morrison, and her Uncle Leslie Morrison, Leslie Morrison had no matching to any of the kits at 7 cm threshold, And, Loretta had some small matching to kits A638877 and M793850, and LJ25931523 all together (triangulated) only on chromosome 23. This is clearly not the male line for a match to these Morrison but due to some other relationship.
Also, DNA as detailed above, compared with Nathaniel Morrison-3663 from North Carolina that married Thankful Heriman descendants and they are not a match as they are in Family Tree DNA, Morrison-Gilmore DNA project under Group "R" and we are under Group "AX" . )
Undetermined relationship: Relationship is suggested by a GEDMatch test match between 6th cousins once removed Loretta Lynn Morrison GedMatch T806986 and Suzanne Harper Burns GedMatch LJ2593153 who share 30.6cM over 5 segments, the largest of which is 8.9 cM.
