DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with George by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with George:
George arrived at Lyttelton New Zealand on the ship WH Haselden on 15 December 1864, accompanied by his parents William and Margaret Morrison and his siblings William and Helen. They settled in Cust, mid-Canterbury and farmed at Maitland Vale. George's brother William married Jane Black who left Scotland in 1864 with the Morrison family to emmigrate to NZ. William and Jane had two sons William Milne Morrison and J.H. Morrison who died in the 1914-18 war. See "Papers Past" (NZ Archives)
