Alexander Morrison was born in Scotland.

Alexander Morrison was born about 1833 in Glasgow, the son of William Morrison and Margaret Mearns. In the 1841 census, Alexander is with his parents and brother William at Church St in Hamilton[1]. In the 1851 census, Alexander, age 17, is with his parents and siblings Helen and James at 21 Postgate in Hamilton[2]. In Aug 1863, Alexander was living at Queen St in Motherwell when he was the death informant for his sister Helen.

Alexander, age 31, a Labourer in Iron Works, married Widow Isabella Milligan born McCulloch, age 29, a Tambourer, on 10 Apr 1865 at 10 Church St in Hamilton. Witnesses were John Watson and Janet McKay. In the 1871 census Alexander is at 10 Church St in Hamilton with his wife and brother-in-law Alexander McCulloch and Isabella's father John McCulloch. In the 1881 census, now at 18 Church St in Hamilton, Alexander and Isabella are with Isabella's grandson William Milligan, age 1, Isabella's father John McCulloch, and a boarder Edward Hedley.

In the 1891 census, Alexander and Isabella are at 28 Church St with grandson William Milligan and a boarder David Somerville. Alexander died at age 62, on 08 Nov 1895 at 28 Church St in Hamilton. He had bronchitis for 2 weeks. His brother-in-law Alexander McCulloch was the death informant.
