T.A. Morrison from Benton County at Gravette Saturday evening, 11th inst., about 6 o'clock Tom McDaniel shot and killed his father in law T.A. Morrison. On Saturday McDaniel was arrested at the instance of his father in law for beating his (McDaniel's) wife and he was fined $50.00 in the Mayors court for the offense. In the evening when McDaniel went home he met his wife and demanded her to tell him where his child was and on learning that the child was at her parents home he immediately there and commenced abusing the old man. He threw a rock at Morrison, hitting him about the center of the breast and immediately after the rock was thrown both parties commenced shooting, McDaniel hitting the old man three times, once in the mouth, once in the breast and once near the groin, either of which shot were fatal. McDaniel was not hit. After the killing McDaniel returned home and commenced eating his supper that his wife had prepared for him before the killing and while at his meal was arrested by Andrew Russell, J.P. of Wallace township. The preliminary examination was held on Wednesday before T.D. Bates, J.P. of Wallace township, the defendant being bound over on a charge of murder in the second degree to await the action of the grand jury.
