I am interested in communicating with
cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy.
Here is my family tree.Ancestors
My wife's ancestry includes first fleet convict James Morrisby. James came to Australia in 1788 on the Scarborough. There were no deaths recorded on this ship and it seems possible that this contributed to these convicts being first ashore to begin the construction of Sydney. James was of good conduct and sent to Norfolk Island in1793 where he established a small farm. In 1807 he was granted 300 acres it the new island state of Van Diemans Land later to become Tasmania. James developed his land became a successful citizen and a volunteer member of the constabulary. It's just one of many stories of our convict past where given opportunity they became successful and productive citizens.
