Biography

Robert Morrow was born circa 1740, in Ireland and was residing in the Ninety Six District of the Carolina Colony at the time of the American Revolutionary War. Robert Morrow served under the command of Colonel Benjamin Roebuck of the "Sparta Regiment" of the Militia. [1] He also furnished a wagon and team of horses to be used by the military. [2]

Robert Morrow is honored by the Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR Ancestor #A081265. DAR records indicate that that Robert died before September 27, 1823, in Morgan County, Alabama and that his wife's name was Jane (Peden) Morton. Applications for membership in the Society of the DAR have been made by the descendants of their sons, Samuel Morrow, who married Rosa Dorough; David Morrow, who married Nancy Darraugh/Dorough; and Thomas Morrow, who married Hannah Richardson. [3]

Robert's wife, Jane Peden was born in 1740, in Ireland, a daughter of John Peden, who was also a Revolutionary War soldier. [4] Jane was the widow of John Morton and is also a DAR Patriot in her own right. [5] According to her Find A Grave memorial, Jane and her sisters went into the battlefield with their wagons and took the wounded soldiers into their home to nurse them back to health. A DAR marker identifyine her as a "Real Daughter" was placed by Dripping Springs Chapter, DAR, on July 13, 1975. [6]

Robert Morrow died in 1820, in Morgan County, Alabama and was buried in Morrow Cemetery, #1, in Somerville. [7]

Available documentary and DNA evidence suggests the better theory is that Robert is the son of David Morrow b. 1725. See that biography and explanation here.
