Biography

Ireland Native
Eliza (Morrow) Morris was born in Ireland.

Eliza Jane Morrow was born in Armagh, Ireland in about 1827 the daughter of James Morrow and Jane Maxwell.[1][2]

Eliza Jane (Morrow) Johnston, daughter of James Morrow and Jane Maxwell, married Arthur Irwin Johnston, son of Arthur Johnston and Sarah McGee in about 1846. They had three children.

Eliza Jane (Morrow) Johnston migrated to Australia about 1851.[2] Eliza had two sons before she emigrated. As Hugh died in Victoria, it is likely he travelled with her. Eliza's third son, Arthur was born "At Sea" and baptised in Geelong. Whether Eliza's husband, also Arthur, perished on the voyage or was left behind is uncertain.[1]

Eliza Jane (Morrow) Johnston, widowed daughter of James Morrow and Jane Maxwell, married William Thomas Morris, son of William Morris, in Victoria in 1853.[1][2] They had eight children.

Eliza Jane (Morrow) Morris (formerly Johnston) passed away at South Yarra, Prahran, Victoria on 15 December 1876.[2] She died from burns accidentally incurred by her clothes catching fire. She was survived by

  • two children from her first marriage
  • her second husband[2]
  • at least one son from her second marriage.
